On this very special episode of TJP, Jim gives Ted some space to talk Egypt.

A very special thanks to Anne (my wife) who painstakingly pieced this trip together with Jess from Jess Insight tours & travels in only a few weeks (in my thank you post I said it was 2 months, but it was much less than that). All the guides and handlers were so great. Here are the 2 refrains I will miss:

Day 1 

  • Arrival our representative from Jess Insight Tours will assist you from airport to check in to hotel

  • Room(s) will have a balcony facing Pyramids of Giza

  • Rest 

 

Day 2 

8.30am after breakfast will start first day tour

  • The Great Pyramids of Giza

  • Saqqara (Step Pyramid of Djoser)

  • Lunch

  • After lunch visit the following:

    • Open Air Museum at Memphis

    • Ramses II gigantic statue

    • Papyrus Institute

  • Transfer you back to hotel 

Day 3 

  • 9:00am will have another awesome day trip to

    • Visit National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC)

  • City tour to Coptic Cairo 

    • Cave Church Saint Simon Monastery

    • Saint Sergius and Bacchus Church (also known as Holy Family hidden place with infant Jesus)

  • Lunch

  • After lunch visit Islamic Cairo:

    • Mohamed Ali Mosque - Alabaster Mosque

    • Khan el-Khalili Bazzar

    • Kasr El Nil Bridge

    • Walk around surrounding area

  • Transfer you back to hotel 

Day 4 

Cairo to Aswan 876 km

  • Morning flight to Aswan 

  • Upon arrival in Aswan our representative will assist you from airport to visit:

    • Philae Temple

    • Aswan High Dam

    • Unfinished obelisk

  • Transfer to cruise from Aswan to Luxor (3 nights/ 4 days cruise)

  • After check-in to cruise have lunch and rest

  • After short rest visit the following:

    • Nubian village

    • Nabatat Island Botanical Gardens

    • Souk 

  • Transfer you back to cruise 

Aswan to Abu Simbel 578km Round trip

Day 5

  • Morning departure 4:30am for an awesome trip to Abu Simbel and a tour of the Great Temple of Ramses II

  • Travel back to Aswan

  • Transfer back to Cruise ship by lunch hour 1:30 pm 

  • Cruise ship will sail to Kom Ombo 

  • Arrive at Kom Ombo our guide will come meet you and take you to visit Kom Ombo Temple

  • Transfer you back to Cruise ship 

  • 5:00pm cruise ship will sail to Edfu 

Aswan to Luxor 214 km

Day 6 

  • 8:00am tour Horus Temple in a horse drawn carriage 

  • Return to cruise and relax 

  • 4:00pm cruise will sail to Luxor

  • Arrive at Luxor 

 Day 7

  • 8:30am check out from Cruise ship 

  • Visit West bank of the Nile visit the following:

    • Valley of the King's & tombs

    • Hatshepsut Temple

  • Lunch

  • After lunch visit the following:

    • Colossi of Memnon & Medinat

    • Habu Temple

  • Check in to hotel

  • Rest 

Day 8

  • 5:00am will go on awesome hot air balloon ride

  • Return to hotel 

  • Our guide will come meet you and take you out to visit 

  • East bank to visit the following:

    • Luxor Temple

    • Karnak Temple

Luxor to Hurghada 327 km 

 Day 9 

  • Check out and travel to Hurghada, Red Sea 12pm/Noon 

  • Arrive at Hurghada, Red Sea will check in to beachfront hotel

  • Room(s) sea side view with balcony

Day 10 

  • 8:30am will start another amazing day filled with watersports

  •  Giftún Island in Orange Bay:

    • Diving two spot, snorkeling, parasailing, sofa boat done by 5 pm 

  • Transfer you back to hotel 

 Day 11

  • 11:30am will start another unforgettable day today is Super Safari Day activities:

    • Quad bike safari, spider car, camel safari & Bedouin village tour

  • Dinner and show

  • Transfer you back to hotel by 7:00pm 

Hurghada to Cairo 470 km

 Day 12 

  • Free morning at hotel & beach before transfer you to Hurghada Airport 

  • Fly back to Cairo

  • Arrive at Cairo we will assist you from airport to check in hotel 

Room(s) with balcony facing the Nile River

  • Rest 

 Day 13 

Cairo to Bahariya oasis western desert 900 km round trip

  • 7:00am we will travel to amazing Bahariya Oasis Western Desert for one night of camping also known as mars

    • with so much fun activities: sand boarding, white desert rock formations from limestones, black desert & crystal mountain (you can pick up some crystal too)

  • We will have bbq dinner under the sky while watching sunset from desert 

Day 14

  • After breakfast we will drive back to Cairo

  • Arrive at Cairo hotel (Ramses Hilton)

Cairo to Alexandria 434 km round trip

 Day 15 

  • 8 am will travel to Alexandria visit ancient sites

    • Catacombs

    • Qaitbay Citadel

    • Stanley Bridge

  • Lunch

  • After lunch visit the following:

    • Pompey Pillar,

    • Roman Theater Odeum

    • Library of Alexandria

  • Back to cairo 

Day 16

Free day - we ended up going to The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities

Day 17

Transfer you to airport to catch your flight back home

All tolled — 3,800 km approximately traveled (2361 miles)
